Letter from Joe and Rona Hi everyone. We’re horribly embarrassed that it has taken us this long to reach out to everyone, but it has been a whirlwind for us and this is the first opportunity we’ve had to touch base with everyone. First of all, let us say “what an absolute honor to receive such a send off party! Montebello Pet Club, YOU MADE US PROUD!!! Thanks so much to those of you who planned the event, worked the event and attended the event. A big extra special thank-you to Tommy & Susan Morris for their leadership coordinating our party and their continued leadership with the Club. Also thanks to those of you who couldn’t make the party but who have sent us cards, notes, and phone calls. Joe and I felt your “love” and it was a very humbling experience.
I’m sure that by now most of you have heard our horror story with the movers, and probably noticed the broken truck (loaded with all our precious stuff) parked on the Montebello service road. Please everyone promise us that if you ever again see a Florida Moving Van Line truck on the property, please converge on it with all your pets and encourage them to “do their business” on the truck, regardless of where the truck is parked¬“ do not even think about using one of those “poop bags!”. I think that should tell you what Joe and I think of that moving company. We are absolutely loving life down here. We just adore our house, which miraculously holds more than our “D” unit did and it is great to be being part of a neighborhood. Joe left a “cove” behind that was named after him and now has a whole pool named after him instead. Not too shabby! Master Chef Joseppi also has his own huge gas grill and it even has a special side burner and rack for cooking spices so he is in grill heaven and I am in awe of all the gadgets and the fact that we actually own this contraption! Sammy loves his new yard and has made friends with the neighbor’s huge black lab so that is a very good thing. He is sporting a new “do” and so far is doing o.k. with the warmer weather. We already know 3 neighbors and we’re starting to think about how nice it would be to organize a “block” party for everyone “ but definitely for next year! Delray Beach is a fabulous place to live and we try to walk everywhere - to the beach, out to restaurants, etc. There is lots going on here all the time and we are so thrilled to be so close to everything. There is even a SunTrust Bank about 4 blocks from where we live - hmmmm? We have settled in for the most part - we still have a few boxes to go thru, but it seems like we definitely have unpacked all the essentials. It is amazing how many “essentials” one accumulates! We look at the 30 some boxes that are still sitting in our garage and (Rona) can’t help but think - would it really be that terrible if someone broke into the garage and walked off with all that stuff?? It’s best if she doesn’t share her answer to that question! Our jobs are going very well and we both are working with outstanding people. Rona has an approx. 40 minute commute on the “dreaded” Interstate 95 where a construction project is underway for a 20 mile stretch, of which I have to travel 15 miles - so it can be challenging as this area has the absolute worst drivers in the country and maybe even the world! Traffic when it is moving travels between 75 - 85 mph easily, with a lot of cars going between 85 to 100 mph. Car accidents, called crashes down here, typically involve 3 to 6 cars per crash since the rate of speed everyone travels causes quite a chain reaction when things go wrong. We don’t think the cars down here are equipped with turn signals as Joe and Rona seem to be the only two on the road who use them! And the fact that the cars do not get yearly inspections means that you never know if the car beside you, in front of you, or behind you even has working brakes or good tires! A fact we try not to think about too much! Enough about traffic, but while we are on the subject of cars - we pick up our new (gently enjoyed) Red Convertible Sebring this evening - so it is a sad farewell to our beloved Land Rover, but trust us - plenty of “FUN 4 JOE” still ahead for us! We have played the copy of the tape that played at our farewell party twice now and just the other night we went thru the gift books that we were given to us and fondly re-read all the messages everyone wrote in them - it touched our hearts again! We miss everyone and think of you often and we seriously invite you to come down and visit us. The reservation book is wide open so please e-mail or call us with dates and we’ll gladly reserve our guest room for you and your pet!
